Do yDeou know that bloging platforms allow you to choose blog categories to organize your content. At first, you might choose your categories without giving them much thought, but as time goes on, you will start to realize the importance of carefully choosing the best categories for your blog. The blog categories you choose will be part of the blog’s map for success, and they will determine the direction of your content. Luckily, you can change them as you grow, so there is no harm done if you need to rethink your blog’s categories.
It’s important to do some planning before you decide on your blog categories. You want to stay broad, yet relevant. You don’t want to end up with one or two posts in a category, and if you have that, you’ve either not written many posts or you have a category that is probably doesn’t represent what your blog is all about.
For example, we write a lot about Star Wars here on Bit Rebels, but having a Star Wars category would be a bit too narrow for us. Instead, we choose a category appropriate for Star Wars, which could also encompass many other similar topics. That category is called “Geek.”
We have 8 one-word blog categories here on Bit Rebels, and for us, that is the perfect number. Each of our 8,814 articles fits nicely into one of those categories. I would recommend that you have as few categories as possible. I found a very helpful article about this that was written back in 2008, and it’s still relevant today. You can find it at How To Choose Categories For Your Blog on ProBlogger.
Also important is the hosting company that you use to house your blog. Without it, you have no blog to add your categories to. Some of the best ones can be found here.
If you are just starting your blog, you might still be flexible about what kind of content you’ll produce. In that case, it might be helpful to know what some of the most popular blog categories are according to Google. This information was derived using the Google “allintitle” Operator (thanks to Wpromote). Tomorrow I will be publishing a follow-up article about how to use the Google “allintitle” Operator to extract all kinds of valuable information. Enjoy!
Great information I really appreciate your site,I already subscribe to your RSS feeds Thanks
I hope you’re having fabulous week. Great resource.
Very useful post. I have a blogging training this afternoon and I’ll use this graph to show it to our attendees.
Why are cats and pets in two different categories?
Can you please clarify how the AllInTitle operator was used to determine top blog topics?
Thanks, I have been looking for the best blogging categories.
very nice, Thanks for this
Thank you so much for your article it really help me to choose the right tag for my next blog.
Very well written and informative article, Thanks.
Nice infographic thanks for sharing
Great info because I copied all the categories index and it worked on my site.
Nice List . its very useful categories to include in Blog to get more organic traffic
Nice and very useful post. Keep on the good work like this.
So, besides just having an article directory and a news/current events blog that contains most of these categories, is there any other way to encompass most all of these in a general type blog? It may seem like a silly question, but it’s still a legitimate one.
Great insight. Has this chart changed much in the last four years?
I already subscribe to your RSS feeds, If there are more details like blog list just fine, thanks for sharing.
Nice categories ideas. How many should we use in a blog like huffingtonpost with no definitive focus on any category.
what would you recommend for local area websites categories wise? i’m curious your thoughts. things like News, Food, Travel etc.
Really useful post and infographic.Thank you for sharing it !
Hi! Quick question that’s totally off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly?
My site looks weird when browsing from my apple iphone.
I’m trying to find a template or plugin that might be able to correct this
issue. If you have any suggestions, please share.
And where is the Gaming categories?
I get pleasure from, lead to I found just what I used to be looking for.
You have ended my 4 day long hunt! God Bless you man. Have a great day.
Tһis is reallу cruciаl for seаrch engines.
We stumbled over here from a different page and
thought I should check things out. I like what I see so now i’m following you.
Look forward to looking over your web page for a second time.
Thank you, Diana.
Really interesting article to read and curious facts too. I’ve always thought travel-related topics are more popular than the real estate-ones.
I think that everything published made a ton of sense.
However, consider this, what if you typed a catchier title?
I mean, I don’t wish to tell you how to run your website, but suppose
you added a post title that grabbed people’s attention? I mean The Most Popular Blog Categories According To
Google [Chart] | Bit Rebels is kinda boring. You could glance at Yahoo’s front page and watch how they create news headlines to grab
people to click. You might add a video or a pic
or two to grab readers interested about everything’ve written. Just
my opinion, it could bring your website a little bit more interesting.
Wow amazing info.
After long research I found your article and I wanna give 5star for your hard work.
Amazing.. thanks for the post.
Very Helpful Thanks 🙂

my own blog in the near future. Anyways, if you have any ideas or techniques for new blog owners please share.
