Am reading a lot about Gas cylinders and would like to make some contributions here.

First, it’s important to avoid those road side gas vendors ( though they bring a lot of convenience)
One reason is they refill their cylinders from back door gas dealers.
They don’t take the prerequisite precautions of eg weighing the cylinders before refill & after refill. So possibility of putting excess gas in a light cylinder is very high.

Then, the way the cylinders are ferried to your home. Cylinders should be upright in transit. If put lying down, then the Liquidified gas mixes with the air at the top ( Normally cylinders are not filled to the brim….a space is left to allow the gas in liquid form to vaporize before exiting to the cooker), this leads to gas oozing out in the cooker in liquid form……then hapo ndio unaskia ati gas Imejaa zaidi…..but the issue was in transporting it!! When they take it to the balcony to let some out, they spray themselves with liquid gas kwa nguo🙆 then you know what happens akikuja kuitest in the kitchen 🔥🔥

You should also be aware gas cylinders have a life span. They have a date engraved on them. Usually the licenced gas dealers (petroleum companies) subject the cylinders to pressure test before refilling. Something ur back door guy is not equipped to do!! Cylinders also erode from inside with time…..in short they expire!!! An expired cylinder is like a bomb in waiting!

For those using Meko! Are you aware Meko were not meant for cooking when they were first introduced?! Am sure u don’t! Meko was meant for lighting purpose……mwangaza kwa Giza! But the innovative we…. decided they can also be used for cooking!
Please, if you use Meko, just make sure it’s not for boiling Githeri na supu! The fire is too close to the cylinder and heats it with time. This can easily cause an explosion. Use it for light cooking’s.

One more thing to know, Cooking gas has no smell!! What u smell from Gas is deliberately added for precaution incase there is a leakage in the house. The scrupulous gas dealers siphoning gas on Mombasa road from the port don’t know that gas from the refineries has no addition of the “smell”, …. buying your gas from them exposes you to the risk of no “smell’ Incase of leakage in the house.
