Success of the ongoing biometric registration of citizens onto the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) has been thrown into uncertainty after Parliament directed that the company providing technological infrastructure for the exercise be blacklisted.

This emerged on Wednesday, April 24, during a Parliamentary Committee sitting that recommended Idemia be investigated by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and banned from doing business in Kenya for the next 10 years.
