Prices have risen so high and below are the new pieces according to ERC.
Super petrol prices increased by KSh 1.53 per litre.

– Diesel and kerosene however recorded decreases of KSh 0.51 and KSh 0.78 per litre
– ERC said the new prices are as a result of increases in average landing cost of super petrol by 3.08%.

– This price changes will be effected for the period from August 15 to September 14.

Motorists will have to pay more for every litre of fuel in the new prices announced by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) on Tuesday, August 14. Poor households hit the hardest as government increases fuel prices for June The cost of diesel decreased by KSh 0.51 per litre while that of kerosene went down by KSh 0.78 per litre.

In a statement issued by ERC, the changes were made as a result of average landed cost of imported super petrol increasing affecting the prices of the fuel.

“The changes in this month’s prices have been as a consequence of the average landed cost of imported Super Petrol increasing by 3.08% from US$ 738.77 per ton in June 2018 to US$ 761.55 per ton in July 2018; Diesel increased by 0.18% from US$ 681.99 per ton to US$ 683.25 per ton and Kerosene decreasing by 1.32% from US$ 731.27 per ton to US$ 721.62 per ton,” By ERC.

Fuel pump price means Super petrol would retail at KSh 113.73, Diesel at KSh 102.74 and Kerosene at KSh 84.95 per litre in Nairobi.

These new prices have came barely a month after ERC issued new prices which were effected on July, Sunday 15.
At the same time, the Matatu Owners Association (MOA) has announced a move to increase commuter prices effective from September 2018 after the government announced its intention for a 16 per cent tax levy on petroleum products. However, this may not happen as the government did not effect the tax in the August 2018 review of fuel prices.
Sad news indeed.
